In Disneyland Resort California many of the rollercoasters will be off limits for those visiting under five years old. So, for those of us who are taking kids of the smallest variety to Disneyland Resort California, here are 5 of the best things to do!
1. Character Meets at Disneyland Resort California
You will see the characters out and about all over the park, however, if you little ones want to meet the Clubhouse gang head for Toon Town.
This is where you can visit Minnie and Mickey’s house and meet the characters if they are there, have a play in Donald’s boat house and mess around in Goofy’s house.
We saw Mickey, Minnie, Pluto and Goofy while we were here, so it’s definitely a good place to spot the Clubhouse favourites.
2. Meet the Princesses at Disneyland Resort California
If you have little ones that love the Disney princesses I would recommend meeting the princesses in the Royal Court, which is to the side of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle.
There are always three princesses on rotation so you’re never sure which ones you’ll get, although this doesn’t really matter as whoever your kids see will make it a magical experience for them.
Our Little One saw Ariel, Snow White and Cinderella and it was one of the absolute highlights of her day.
It was also ridiculously cute to watch and the Princesses were so so good with her!
Be prepared to get a bit emotional seeing them actually meet their favourite princesses!
3. Fantasyland
Of all the lands at Disneyland Resort California, Fantasyland by far had the most rides for visitors under 5, and especially those under height.
The Carrousel, Teacups and the Alice in Wonderland ride are all examples of rides we could take the baby on with us and the ride either loaded lots of people on at once or loaded continuously, so the queuing time wasn’t so bad.
There were also more character meets in Fantasyland and we saw lots of characters out and about such as Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland, the Mad Hatter and she sat and listened to Belle read a story.
4. Nightly Show
On selected nights there is usually a shows to see somewhere in the park. When we were there we saw a water show at New Orleans Square, which was simply breathtaking.
I’m probably safe to say that any show you see will be pretty darn good and everyone in the family will enjoy it.
The shows usually start at 9pm, which is a little late, but if you can get your little ones to stay up for it or wake them up when it begins, they will find it quite the spectacle!
5. Shows in the Disneyland Resort California Park
There are a few singing and dancing shows throughout Disneyland Resort California such as those showing at the Royal Theatre and Fantasyland Theatre.
They are only about 30 minutes long, so just about right to keep little brains engaged. They show regularly throughout the day and they usually involve Mickey and some of the Princesses.
Take a look at how to keep everyone in your family happy at Disneyland Resort California.

Hi Jimmy,
Thank you for the heads up.
I’ll have a little look into it and thanks for taking some time to have a look round!
Great list! Character meet ups and shows are the best. I love the magic of a live show, and meeting characters was the best. I remember how in awe my sister was meeting them at 6. I had a blast doing it at 15!
Cheers xx

This is so useful. I don’t have kids but I always see people going on family trips and wonder what the little ones do because they can’t go on the rides. Character meets and shows must be so exciting for them! x
