Langdon Nature Reserve, Lower Dunton Road, Basildon, SS16 6EJ
Parking and Facilities – Langdon Nature Reserve
The Peter Rabbit trail is based at Langdon nature reserve all year round. Parking is free, but donations are welcome.
Langdon Nature Reserve Visitor Centre
First stop should be the visitor centre where you can pick up a map of the Peter Rabbit trail for £1. Alongside this there are also activity sheets for your little ones to have fun with as they find all the characters!
The visitor centre has toilets, a shop selling some Peter Rabbit goodies and a cafe selling snacks and drinks, but no hot food.
Paths and Access to the Bunny Walk
The paths are all very buggy friendly and very easy to access. There are some parts that slope up and down, but it is all still very doable!
Things to Discover Along the Activity Trail…
Along the trail you will also discover Ian’s Garden where you can search for newts and ducks in the pond and apples in the trees if you hit the season right!
There’s also another set of beautifully designed and well maintained gardens through the West Gate! This really is one not to be missed. The kids absolutely loved it!
Peter Rabbit Trail Essex
Then meet the characters of Beatrix Potter’s Peter Rabbit! Go in search of characters such as Mr Tod, Benjamin Bunny and of course Peter himself!
Langdon Lake and Meadows
Part of the Peter Rabbit trail also takes you to Langdon Lake where you can meet a special water loving member of the Peter Rabbit crew!
You might even get to see some ducks, fishermen in their tents and if your really lucky the occasional fish!
The characters are very climbable for little hands and feet, so do try remind your little ones to look after them so they get to share them with everyone else too.
Picnics and Play- Peter Rabbit Trail Essex
If you decide to take a picnic there are plenty of wooden picnic tables around a wooden play area. So, once they’ve had their lunch there is ample opportunity for them to burn off some of that newly acquired energy!
