Stick Man trail in Weald Country Park Essex is a great family day out for you and your little ones!
Weald Country Park is located in the borough of Brentwood in the Essex countryside. The park is over 700 years old and has around 500 acres of woodland and grasslands to discover and explore!
The Stick Man Trail is also one of five amazing themed character trails you can find in Essex!
History of Weald Country Park
The Country Park, (which originally included an Abbey and Manor House) was a royal gift bestowed upon the local community of Waltham by King Harold back in 1062. He did this as he thought the holy cross at Waltham had saved his life!
In 1946 the estate was broken up. The house called Weald Hall was demolished in 1951 due to damage it had sustained during the war. However, you can still see some steps at one edge of the park along with the old walled kitchen garden.

Stick Man Trail Essex
The Stick Man trail is only a part of what is on offer at Weald Country Park.
Once you get there you can take a walk through Home Stick Home, play a tune on Stick Man’s bed, sit on his chair and take a endearing picture on his fireplace!
Deer in Essex
When you visit Weald Country Park to visit Stick Man, remember to take some carrots, cereal or bird seed so you and your little ones can feed the deer and ducks! Although, if you forget, we have discovered deer can be quite partial to oak leaves too!
Our little munchkins loved this so much! Seeing the deer is a firm favourite. The deer also seem to have a big appetite and always seem very appreciative!
Stick Man Trail and Weald Country Park
Weald Country Park also offers a great walking route you can do with small children.
It takes you past all the main points of interest such as the Cloud Gazing Hammocks, the Bluebell Tree House and Weald Weave. All in a way that makes the kids think they haven’t done that much walking.
I liked this set up as there is always something new for the kids to aim for.
The Brentwood Park Shop
The coffee shop has lots of seating with the loveliest tables that have quotes from the Stick Man story etched into the wooden tops.
The shop sells Julia Donaldson merchandise such as toys, stationary and books along with Weald Country Park confectionary, jams and other goodies.
It’s a delightful place to spend some quality family time and it’s completely pushchair friendly!
It me know if you have been in the comments and tell me your favourite part!
