Four Views Oasis in Madeira – Hotel Review

The room upgrade and restaurant experiences we had on our stay at the Four Views Oasis in Madeira were gifted to Well Travelled Munchkins. All words, photos and opinions are our own.

If you are looking to book a trip away to the Portuguese island of Madeira, the Four Views Oasis is the perfect place to base your adventures from. The Four Views Oasis is situated right on the waters edge at the bottom of the coastal town of Caniço. The Four Views Oasis offers beautiful sea views, beach walks, time around the pool and some great food! Here’s our Four Views Oasis hotel review.

Four View Oasis in Madeira – First Impressions

The transfer from the airport only took around 10 to 15 minutes, which was a dream when you have been travelling with kids for the past nine hours.

On arrival there were so many lovely little touches, specifically with the kids in mind. At the check-in desk they were greeted with little care packages full of colouring activities and sweets from a pineapple!

This kept them fully entertained and quiet whilst I checked us all in, which was really helpful.

The Room

Our room was upgraded to a Superior Studio. It was gorgeous!

We had two rooms in this apartment. A living area and a sleeping area.

We had a kitchenette with dining area, a sofa (which we used as a bed) leading to a balcony that overlooked the hotel pool, garden and then that beautiful big blue Atlantic ocean!

The second room was the bedroom and ensuite with a second balcony!

Restaurants at Four Views Oasis in Madeira

The Four Views Oasis in Madeira offers all-inclusive, breakfast only or self-catered holidays, so there is something for everyone.

We booked the breakfast only option, which gave us access to a buffet breakfast in the main restaurant, Acquamarina.

We also got to enjoy gourmet dinners in the Atalaia Bistro through a special scheme called Dine in House. For €75 per person you can choose three meals on any three nights at any of the restaurants which includes a starter, main, desert and drinks.

We chose two nights in the Atalaia Bistro. These meals were absolutely amazing and some of the best nights we have had out as a family!

The kids meals were brought out even before our starters. This meant we could enjoy our meal in relative peace. There was a real sense the staff knew what it was like to dine out with children and they did their utmost to make the experience a positive one for all of us.

We then chose the Saturday night Arraial BBQ in the hotel garden, which is a mockup of a traditional Madeiran festival. (If you want to see more on this go to our instagram page.)

Facilities

The facilities at Four Views Oasis were superb.

The pool was well looked after, cleaned and disinfected every night along with the sun loungers and cushions.

There were always various activities going on around the pool such as aqua-aerobics, yoga, stretch resistance or bums and tums. You could opt in or out of these as much a you liked.

There was a huge snooker table in the bar area and in the garden a petanque court, a small play area for the kids and even a small kitchen garden you could have a little walk around. You can also see banana plants dotted around the place too!

Green Initiative

We were really impressed by an initiative the hotel ran called the ‘no-cleaning card’.

The no-cleaning card encourages guests to forgo cleaning everyday in exchange for credit/drinks at the bar. Although the basics are still checked on the non-cleaning days like taking out the rubbish and replacing toilet paper.

Ultimately, this helps to reduce the guests and the hotels environmental footprint. Plus costs and the use of cleaning products are also reduced.

We thought this was a brilliant idea and had our room cleaned twice during our stay. This meant we saved enough money to put towards having a buffet dinner in the restaurant one night. We thought that was a pretty good trade off.

Kids Club

The kids club was really good and ran various activities everyday from mask making, stone painting, crafting and even cooking!

The schedule was on display just outside the restaurant, which is where the club usually took place. This is a hop, step and a jump away from the pool. So, the kids would be inside creating some sort of masterpiece for an hour or two and we would be just outside on the sun loungers.

When we wanted to check in on them we simply popped our heads in through the door. Also, for the most part, you can see them in full view from the pool.

Four View Oasis in Madeira – Location

Caniço

The hotel is located at the bottom of a town called Caniço. Caniço is about a 10 minute bus ride from the hotel, but it is all uphill.

The walk to Caniço is completely doable and well sign posted, but if you are travelling with small kids, like us, this might be a little bit much.

When visiting Caniço or getting the bus to other areas of the island we always opted to get the bus up and then walk down.

Funchal

The Four View Oasis is around 13km from the Islands capital city, Funchal. The hotel offers a free shuttle bus into the city, which requires booking in advance.

We really appreciated this service and made good use of it as we absolutely loved spending time in Funchal!
