First Impression of the Becco Reusable Beeswax Food Wraps
All the packaging is completely recyclable and the earthy colours reiterate the message that Beeco’s food wraps are completely natural and organic.
In the pack there are five reusable wraps in three different sizes and a lovely cotton produce bag. I use my bag to keep my wraps in, but you can use it for just about anything you like.
I’ve never used anything like this before so I spent some time on their Instagram page @beecolifewrap. They regularly post really helpful tips and tricks on how to get the most out of your wraps.
Beeco’s Reusable Beeswax Food Wraps are made from 100% natural materials with the main ingredient being beeswax!
The brilliant thing about beeswax is that it actually has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties (something I didn’t know till now) and it’s use in these wraps means they are waterproof and airtight. Starting to sound a bit better than a flimsy bit of plastic right now aren’t they?
At the end of their life they are also biodegradable and completely compostable.
Using Beeco’s Reusable Beeswax Food Wraps
The beeswax wraps are activated by the heat of your hands. You simply wrap the sheet around the container and the warmth from your hands creates the seal.
To make the sheets more pliable scrunch the sheet up into a ball in your hands. The wraps are pretty robust so this wont hurt them at all. The warmth from your hands activates the beeswax making them almost sticky. You then unfold them and mould them around your container or choice of food.
Beeco’s Reusable Beeswax Food Wraps can be cleaned simply with water. Then, once they are dry they can be put away. In a bid to look after them as much as I can, I have taken to folding them up into the sheets they originally came in.
You can currently buy Beeco reusable food wraps on Amazon for a promotional price of £12.99. This single purchase will last you an entire year!
That’s the same as buying 5 packs of cling film… and then putting 5 packs worth of non recyclable plastic back into landfill.
I know where I would rather put my money, and my conscience.
I like Beeco’s Reusable Beeswax Food Wraps. They are easy to use, easy to clean and easy to store. They are good for the environment, they are made from 100% natural ingredients and lovingly handmade.
Best of all, the sheets last for around a year, but that all depends on how much you use them. I think if you look after them, you could make them last a little longer.
If we are able to make the smallest changes to the way we live, those of us that can, should. We should be showing our kids what it means to look after the world we live in and how we can do our bit from home.
It’s small tweaks to our everyday that will collectively have a huge impact on the waste we produce.
It’s products like Beeco’s Reusable Beeswax Food Wraps that give us the opportunity to live a little better.
